Don't be surprised if your doctor or pediatrician of your children will prescribe you equivalent doctors: they cost less, they will help the Region save money. It is just one of the points included in the agreement signed by family doctors and the Emilia Romagna Region to deal with the crisis. The document bears the signature of the councilor for health policies Carlo Lusenti, of all the unions of general practitioners and of the secretaries of Fimmg Renzo Le Pera, of Snami Francesco Biavati, of Smi Alessandro Chiari, of Intesa Sindacale Pasquale Ortasi.
"To maintain the quality of care in this difficult moment - said councilor Lusenti, recalling that in addition to the 150 million euros from the regional budget, the health system in 2013 must raise 260 million to maintain budget balance - we have also asked for the contribution of general practitioners whom I thank for their availability and for the contribution they have given over the years.
"With this agreement we have shared the need to work to optimize the use of resources as much as possible, further improving the appropriateness in the prescription of medicines and specialist tests".
In particular, from an economic point of view, the agreement signed in viale Aldo Moro 21 envisages an overall saving of 15 million euros to be obtained “without affecting the quality of assistance” . The resources may come, to a small extent (quantified at 4.5 million), from improving the appropriateness of prescribing specialist tests and, for the most part, from the use of "equivalent or generic" medicines instead of "branded" medicines in treatments.
