Basel: the victims are workers employed in the construction of the pharmaceutical complex. The violations of the wage rules would more precisely concern around thirty workers who have been working on the facades of the towers since August 2013. An absolute record of abuses in this sector
BASEL – The Unia trade union denounced wage dumping at high altitudes. According to workers' representatives, the workers involved in the construction of the Roche Tower, the soon to be new headquarters of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche Holding SA, were paid hourly wages of 12 francs per hour. This resulted in a global deduction of one million francs from workers, an all-time record for abuses in this sector. The violations of wage rules would more specifically concern around thirty workers who have been working on the facades of the towers on behalf of a subcontractor since August 2013. The construction of the tower, which should be ready by 2015, therefore seems to be slowing down given the interruption of work on the site on Tuesday morning. The complaint has been filed.
