The Italian Pharmaceutical Industry, almost half of which is based in Lombardy, is resisting the crisis and forecasts stable turnover for 2010 as well, with a slight increase in volumes. However, the continued compression of margins due to cost containment measures is worrying.
If this trend continues, companies will have to cut investment in research with the risk of ending up on the margins of global business. And in the meantime, a further reduction in Technical-Scientific Representatives is foreseeable.
This is the state of the art outlined on 30 November in Milan by Sergio Dompè, president of Farmindustria, in the framework of a conference organized by Assolombarda.
