Hundreds of parents besieged the clinic of the local health district for two days despite reassurances from the Ministry of Health
Another day of siege, yesterday, at the vaccination clinic of the Corigliano Calabro health district, after the rapid spread of an unjustified "psychosis" from an infected vaccine. Already, the one against meningitis, some recent batches of which have been officially withdrawn by the manufacturer Nuron Biotec, a drug multinational which reported the presence of a reddish orange foreign body inside the Meningitec vaccine vials identified as iron oxide.
"Pending the withdrawal, the lots cannot be used": this is the imperative of the pharmaceutical company, dated 30 September.
The news spread with a delayed burst among the parents of children between the first and second year of age residing in Corigliano Calabro.
And for two days the siege by alarmed parents has been being recorded at the vaccination clinic of the local district of the provincial health agency.
In fact, there are hundreds of children in the city who have been vaccinated with the drug contained in those batches "incriminated" by the same manufacturer.
And hundreds of parents lined up, very worried but in a completely unjustified way, considering the reassurances from the Medicines Agency of the Ministry of Health (Aifa), which has already disseminated several official notes on its institutional communication channels that do not fear risks for children's health.
The fact made it necessary for the carabinieri and the municipal police to intervene for matters of public order, while the mayor of the city, Giuseppe Geraci, called for the intervention of the prefect of Cosenza and the prosecutor of Castrovillari.
