VERITAS PROJECT IN MACERATA – SATURDAY 22 JUNE 2013
The convention of the SNAMI "Veritas" project in central Italy was held in Macerata.The Project that brings together citizens, lawyers and health professionals, to solicit an exchange of views on the prescription of generic medicines and the consequences of the law on the obligation of prescribers to indicate the molecule on prescriptions, also in Macerata stimulated the active participation, with interesting contributions, from all the participants. The works introduced by the National President of Snami Angelo Testa saw the interesting reports of the President of the Medical Association of Macerata, the representative of the association "CittadinanzaActivate" local, of the president of the order of pharmacists and of the lawyers of Macerata also stimulated by numerous speeches and questions from the Doctors present. SNAMI national secretary Gianfranco Breccia put his finger on the sore spot of the lack of evidence of therapeutic bio-equivalence in Italy, following the example of the American Orange Book. It was agreed that there is still a lot to do in order for Italy to achieve the same serenity with which the prescription of generic medicines takes place in the rest of Europe. Concerns that also attracted the attention of the representative of Cittadinanza Attiva who recognized the validity of the criticisms expressed by the union and by the colleagues present in the room. Furthermore, the reports by Dr. D'Accardi, Dr. Santucci, Dr. Grimaldi and Dr. Orlando were much appreciated. Finally, the speech of the representative of the association of drug sales representatives was stimulating, stigmatizing the consequences that the law has had on the pharmaceutical industry of our country, which has led to negative employment effects in the field of scientific information as well as the loss of investment in research. In conclusion, President Angelo Testa made an appointment for the day specifically dedicated to these issues at the next National Congress in Salerno in October and publicly thanked the provincial president of Snami Macerata, dott. Francesco Morresi for the excellent organization of the event.
