One out of two Italians declares themselves in favor of online medical visits. This is what emerges from the first European Barometer, a study on European health systems and on citizens' evaluation
About half of Italians (49 percent) are in favor of online medical consultations, virtual visits by tracing specialists online. A surprising figure considering that 64 percent never use the internet to obtain health information. This is what emerges from the first European Barometer, a study on European health systems and on citizens' evaluation, carried out by the French research institute "Csa". The survey, presented yesterday in Paris, has put five countries under the magnifying glass: Italy, Germany, France, Great Britain and Sweden.
The 49 percent of Italians in favor of online medical advice brings our country to second place in the ranking, immediately after Sweden. The survey also revealed that 39 percent of Europeans have "moderate confidence" in the development of technological tools capable of remote diagnosis, with the Swedes more optimistic (49 percent) and the Germans at the bottom (27 percent). On the other hand, greater confidence is placed in carrying out surgical interventions via video connection with a specialist (64 percent). From Doctornews 01-26-07
