On July 12, the Shanghai branch [in the picture] of the pharmaceutical company Roche told the media that there are eight types of drugs linked to the case of untimely communication of their potential danger in the US, six of which are sold on the Chinese market. These are mainly anti-cancer drugs and for the treatment of hepatitis.
In the evening of the same day, the Chinese State Food and Drug Administration has already arranged a meeting with the Roche safety officer in China and hopes that the results of the investigation into the incident will be promptly communicated to him.

Roche cuts a thousand jobs in the US
BASEL – Roche has announced a restructuring of the research and development sector which will involve the closure of the center in Nutley, in New Jersey (USA). The measure is likely to result in the loss of 1,000 jobs.
With the consolidation of activities, the number of jobs will probably increase by 35 units in Switzerland (Basel and Schlieren) and by 15 in Germany, a spokesman for the pharmaceutical group indicated to the ATS. However, the true extent of the increase in staff depends on consultation procedures.
Roche will remain present on the American east coast with a development center and 240 employees. Roche currently employs 20,800 people in the United States and will continue to invest heavily in pharmaceutical research and development at its California unit Genentech, according to a statement.
The reorganization will allow research and development costs to be stabilized at group level, despite the growth in the last 18 months in the number of projects, adds the company noting that the financial perspectives for 2012 remain unchanged.
Roche has also announced that Jean-Jacques Garaud, head of research and development of the pharmaceutical division, will leave the company at the end of June. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Mike Burgess.
