Campania. Stolen medicines hidden in a detergent deposit: 700,000 euro seizure

THE Carabinieri have found hidden in a deposit of detergents, drugs for the treatment of tumors, liver, cardiovascular diseases, for HIV. The medicines are the result of a robbery that took place in the province of Foggia in January 2014.

Over 40,000 packs of over-the-counter and hospital medicines worth around 700,000 euros were discovered and seized by the Carabinieri of Marcianise (Caserta) in Scafati (Salerno). The Carabinieri found hidden inside boxes and cartons in a detergent warehouse, medicines for the treatment of cancer, liver, cardiovascular and HIV diseases. Medicines for the treatment of serious mental illnesses were also crammed into the boxes.

The drugs stolen in a robbery

The soldiers of the Arma have ascertained that the medicines found are the same ones stolen in a robbery against a truck driver which took place in Cerignola (Foggia) on 23 April 2014 and a theft carried out in Bari between 17 and 18 February last . On the same occasion, the Carabinieri seized in two deposits, in Nola and Ottaviano, medicines and parapharmaceuticals, hospital and anticancer drugs for a value of one million euros. The load had been stolen by a haulier driving a lorry during a robbery in the industrial area of Marcianise.
