(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 11 - The demonstration by the medical unions against the abolition of the night medical guard, envisaged by the draft for the renewal of the Convention of family doctors and paediatricians, is underway in Piazza Montecitorio.

With them also representatives of consumer associations and mayors of small Italian municipalities. They are united by the concern regarding the replacement of a current 24-hour territorial assistance model (in which there is a family doctor during the day and on-call medical assistance at night) with a 16-hour assistance model, in which at night and on public holidays the citizen must refer to the emergency room and to 118 for any type of health problem, regardless of the seriousness.
