Decisions also taken for the National Agency for Regional Health Services (Agenas) and for Anpal
(Regioni.it 3665 – 01/08/2019) The State-Regions Conference in the meeting of 1 August, at the request of the Minister of Health Giulia Grillo, examined the appointments of the top management of the Italian Medicines Agency and the National Agency for Regional Health Services .
At this meeting, an agreement was ratified on the appointment of Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia Romagna Region and of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces – as President of the Board of Directors of the Italian Medicines Agency. President Bonaccini has been designated pro tempore as a guarantee figure to allow the Agency to be able to convene the board of directors on some urgent matters. After the summer break, the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces will proceed with the identification of a nomination proposal to be submitted to the attention of the Minister of Health.
In order to allow the functionality of the Body, the State-Regions Conference has also confirmed pro tempore David Carlo Caparini (Councillor for the Budget, Finance and Simplification of the Lombardy Region) as a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Medicines Agency
At the same meeting, an agreement was reached on the appointment of Manuela Lanzarin (Councillor for health, social services, social-health planning, program implementation, relations with the Regional Council of the Veneto Region) – as President of the National Agency for Regional Health Services. Agreement also reached on the confirmation of Francesco Bevere, as Director of the National Agency for Regional Health Services.
“We have finally appointed the top management of Agenas and have found a bridge solution for Aifa that will ensure the functionality of the board of directors: Stefano Bonaccini was appointed until September as pro tempore guarantee president. Finally, in September, there will be a technician on the horizon who will become the president of Aifa and who is the figure that I had always asked for and that this agency deserves. The names that were momentarily given to me were in any case fine because they were technical figures, as I had always maintained," said the health minister, Giulia Grillo, at the end of the State-Regions Conference at Palazzo Cornaro in via della Stamperia.
In the end – he explained John Toti (President of the Liguria Region and Vice-President of the Conference of Regions), focusing on the "nominations chapter" dealt with by the Conference of Regions on 1 August - "the presidency of Agenas, the Agency for regional health services," will go to a region of Northern which has particular management skills, which is the Veneto”. The representatives of the regions in the Superior Council of Public Works will be representatives of Lombardy and Sicily.

Important day at the State-Regions Conference, lots of news for citizens: we have assigned the regions money against waiting lists for the digitization of CUPs, we have changed the reimbursement criteria for drugs (band A and band C) to guarantee better services to citizens, and then we introduced the new lines 
emergency department guide (numeric codes with certain waiting times).
In the State-Regions Conference we gave the last ok to the new codes that will be used in the emergency rooms. Indeed, the old system will soon be abandoned. Numbers from 1 to 5 will be used, which will not only indicate urgency, but will give a precise reference on waiting times in terms of minutes, ranging from immediate emergency access to access up to 240 minutes for non-emergency situations.
It's another iIntervention that makes the world of health more transparent and closer to citizens. Because, we must never forget, in Italy we have the best healthcare system in the world, even if unpleasant events make the most of the news and too many times we speak – wrongly – in negative terms of this sector.
