Bayer: 110 million dollar penalty on its contraceptives in the US

The Allemand Bayer Pharmaceutical Group will pay 110 million dollars to make money on those 500 claims against their contraceptive pills Yasmin and Yaz. Bayer préfère avoid the risks and the cofits of a procès aux Etats-Unis.

The German pharmaceutical group  Bayer will have to pay at least $110 million to settle about 500 claims against its Yasmin and Yaz contraceptives. The latter could favor the formation of clots that can cause heart attacks and this risk is not sufficiently highlighted. This is the opinion of the FDA which on April 10 asked Bayer and other manufacturers of contraceptive pills to report it more clearly. With 1.58 billion in sales, these contraceptives come in second place in Bayer's product range in terms of sales. Bayer prefers to avoid the risks and costs of an additional trial in the United States.
