AstraZeneca, l’assemblea approva il maxi-stipendio di Soriot nonostante la battaglia di alcuni investitori

La battaglia di alcuni grandi fondi azionisti di AstraZeneca ha reso meno certa, ma non è riuscita a bloccare, la busta paga del ceo Pascal Soriot. L’assemblea della casa farmaceutica ha infatti approvato di misura le politiche di remunerazione dei vertici, nonostante i proxy advisor (le società specializzate nel ‘consigliare’ gli investitori rispetto alle posizioni da adottare in assemblea) avevano messo nel mirino lo stipendio dell’amministratore delegato, invitando i soci a votare contro.

Il via libera è arrivato grazie al “sì” del 60,19% dei voti espressi, mentre una “proporzione significativa” ha espresso parere contrario, come ammesso dalla stessa AstraZeneca.

The new remuneration policies bring the maximum annual bonus for Soriot in 2021 to 2.5 times the base salary, against the 2 times set as the ceiling by the previous policy, and allow him to be awarded long-term share bonuses for a value of up to 6, 5 times his salary (from 5.5).

Alla vigilia dell’assise si era generata polemica sulla busta paga che potrebbe arrivare a 18 milioni di sterline, ovvero oltre 20 milioni di euro, tanto che due degli investitori più pesanti nel colosso farmaceutico anglo-svedese, ovvero Aviva Investors e Standard Life Aberdeen, avevano considerato la paga e i bonus “eccessivi”. Posizioni dalle quali altri azionisti avevano preso le distanze, come Samuel Johar, presidente di Buchanan Harvey, che al times ha detto: “Credo che alla fine gli azionisti approveranno l’aumento della paga di Pascal. Lui quei soldi li vale tutti”.

Note: AstraZeneca it is the only one that has pledged not to profit from its Covid-19 vaccine during the pandemic. It reported doubling its net income in the first quarter as sales of the anti-covid serum hit 275 million dollars. The pharmaceutical company generated a net profit of 1.56 billion dollars in the first three months of the year, specifying however that this result is due to extraordinary operations on other drugs. So far he would distribute 224 million doses, the vast majority went to Europe.
