According to experts from the Infectious Diseases Department of the Higher Institute of Health, current antibiotics still have a 10-year career before they become completely ineffective. Incorrect use in Italy, as in Europe, is increasingly frequent and is exponentially increasing drug resistance which is no longer compensated for by the arrival of new, more powerful molecules. There are two consumer behaviors that most favor the resistance of bacteria to drugs: their use to fight the flu and colds and their use without the indication given by the doctor. "We must get used to considering antibiotics as a non-renewable good - suggests Antonio Cassone, director of the infectious diseases department of the Higher Institute of Health - As with some energy sources, we do not have infinite resources; a Kyoto would be useful for these drugs. Fighting infections, in fact, is a global problem given that bacteria know no borders".
