We report the position taken by the FNOMCeO
Vaccinations in the pharmacy, Anelli writes to Zingaretti: "Excerpt from the provision, to also allow doctors to be heard"
"We ask, as a subsidiary public body of the state that represents the medical profession to protect the health of citizens, to be heard, before implementing an ordinance that we consider illegitimate".
The disagreement of the President of the Federation of Doctors' Orders (FNOMCeO), Filippo Anelli, with the ordinance signed this morning by the President of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti, is clear. To arouse the opposition from doctors, the part of the provision that provides for the administration and inoculation of flu vaccines in pharmacies, having heard their "most representative organizations". No mention, however, of consulting the doctors: for this reason, Anelli immediately took pen and paper, and wrote to President Zingaretti and the Councilor for Health, Alessio D'Amato, to ask for the disputed points to be removed and an in-depth analysis that take into consideration the observations of the doctors.
“It is inconceivable that doctors, the only ones entitled to carry out clinical acts on the patient, have not been consulted on decisions concerning the skills of their profession and the very health of citizens. And this going, in the method, against the spirit of Law 3/2018, which, making the Orders subsidiary bodies of the State, entrusts them with power precisely in these areas - he warns -. And placing itself in contrast, on the merits, with the legislation in force on the matter, which provides for the prohibition of cumulation between the profession of pharmacist and that of other health professions and excludes the presence of the doctor, the only person entitled to supervise vaccinations, in the pharmacy " .
“And all this for what? There will be a maximum of 400 pharmacies that, in Lazio, may be involved, assuming they have the requisites, in the administration. While 80 vials will be distributed per pharmacy. A total, therefore, of 32,000 vaccines, intended for those who are not entitled to free administration: a minimum percentage, which could easily continue to be administered, as has been the case for twenty years now, in the 6000 offices of general practitioners, in a safe, equipped and protected environment in case of adverse reactions – he continues -. 32,000 patients who, let us remember, will still have to go through the doctor's office to obtain the prescription, necessary for the purchase of the vaccine in the pharmacy ".
"Let us therefore ask ourselves whether, in the face of such a meager result, it is worth putting two State bodies into conflict and putting ourselves in a condition of clear violation of the regulations in force, which, let us remember, are written with the ultimate aim of protecting the health of the citizen – concludes Anelli -. We have therefore forwarded an official request to President Zingaretti to request the removal of the points of the ordinance concerning vaccinations in pharmacies, so that we can listen to our reasons ".
