Confindustria medical devices, Assortopedia enters and the presidency team expands
The representation base of companies in the sector has been enlarged. Confindustria Medical Devices further expands its representation base and announces, on the occasion of the Ordinary Assembly, the entry into the Federation of Assortopedia, the National Association of orthopedic companies, which operate in the sector of production and distribution of medical devices for people disabled.
The association
Assortopedia, which brings together 100 companies and has 1,200 employees, including 300 orthopedic technicians for a market of over 150 million in turnover, will thus become part of the varied world of Confindustria Medical Devices from January 2021, which today represents 4,000 companies, employing almost 80,000 employees, generating a market worth 16.5 billion euros between exports and the domestic market.
The president of Confindustria Medical Devices, Massimiliano Boggetti, underlined how “the entry of Assortopedia is a further, important step in the process of uniting the entire supply chain of medical devices in a single category association”.

The meeting was also an opportunity to present the expansion of the presidency team with the appointment of Silvia De Dominicis, CEO of Johnson & Johnson Medical Spa, as Vice President with responsibility for legal and regulatory affairs and the appointment of two new members of the General Council: Katia Accorsi (Roche Diagnostics) and Marco Greco (Fresenius Medical Care).
Among the objectives of the vice presidency of Silvia De Dominicis, the enhancement of technological innovation of device towards the Italian and European market and the awareness of stakeholders on the need for regulatory simplification and the procurement code, in order to make the procurement market leaner and more competitive. The Vice-President will also follow the legal issues of impact on the sector.
