The former Scientific Whistleblower Amos Grenti has passed away. Retired from ISF, he discovered his calling at 61. Since then he has launched numerous projects in favor of communities and children of African villages in the Northern Sierra, supported the missions of the Xaverians and started the Friends of Sierra Leone Association to give continuity to his mission. His primary the goal was to combat infant mortality due to malnutrition: a blasphemy in a world that is never satisfied with futility.
Through the Association he founded, he raised funds to open schools and dig wells in Sierra Leone. The drinking water obtained in this way reduced the infant mortality rate of those populations by 50%.
Many initiatives also collected in a book, "Nonno Amos tells". An activity that of Amos Grenti, which earned him the highest honor of the state of Sierra Leone, in 2007 the title of Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana and, in 2006, the certificate of civic merit from the Sant'Ilario Prize in Parma.
Amos Grenti, the lay missionary passed away at the age of 94, 32 of whom dedicated entirely to Sierra Leone. Originally from Solignano and residing in Parma, in addition to family members, he leaves a nephew who is also an ISF.
Our deepest condolences to the family.
