About 10,000 places have been lost in recent years. And without new rules they will increase. This is being discussed today at 3 pm in a conference at the University of Perugia on the so-called "Ethical Industry 4.0" promoted by Filctem Cgil. Conclusions by the secretary general Emilio Miceli.

Over the past ten years, the expulsion from pharmaceutical companies of more than 10 thousands scientific informants (currently around 8,000 remain active) and the ever-increasing inclusion of "sellers" with the more precarious and less onerous commercial employment contract, has in fact generated a huge regulatory disorder in the daily practice of the activity. Yet - points out Filctem CGIL - the role of correct and ethical information on the part of companies serves them to present the therapeutic value of old and new drugs; it serves doctors to have opportunities and awareness in prescriptions; it serves the National Health Service to better direct pharmaceutical expenditure, saving where possible and ensuring accessibility to the best medicines for all citizens.
We will talk about it on Wednesday 3 May in a conference at the University of Perugia (3 pm) promoted by Filctem Cgil on the so-called "Ethical Industry 4.0". The works will be introduced by a speech by Sergio Cardinali, of the Filctem chemical-pharmaceutical department. Important personalities from the scientific, entrepreneurial, trade union and institutional worlds have given their support, including the president of Umbria Catiuscia Marini and the undersecretary for health Davide Faraone. The conclusions will be entrusted to the general secretary of Filctem, Emilio Miceli.
In a historical-economic moment like the current one, while the pharmaceutical sector has acted in an anti-cyclical sense with respect to the crisis with the ambition of further growth in the immediate future and of making Italy the reference country for European pharmaceuticals, "it can no longer be postponed – observes Filctem – a focus on the figure oftheinformer sscientific of fweapon. The loss of thousands of jobs in this sector, continues the note, runs the risk of sensationally mixing the two distinct professional figures, informants and sellers, even worse, it puts them in competition with each other. “In some cases it has even come to individual dismissal for economic reasons, improperly using the drop in turnover generated by 
products advertised in the sales rep's territorial area, as if he were a mere seller". Such a drift as to discourage many young people from studying a profession no longer considered strategic by the system, so much so as to force many Italian universities to cancel their degree course.
A discussion table on pharmaceuticals has been opened at the Ministry of Economic Development with all stakeholders. “It is the right place for a careful analysis of the situation and at the same time to carry out a regulatory check. Therefore it is necessary to use all the public opportunities for discussion with the regional and territorial institutions and with the companies providing the services, to make clear the drift in which we are advancing, with the risk of further debasing the national health system of service to citizens ". At the same time, concludes the union, “careful contractual verification is required with the associations and companies signing the contract. We are strongly committed not to claiming a restoration work on this front, but to seeking the right balance between the defense of workers and citizens' rights, while safeguarding the growth of companies in the sector, as an absolute value for our country" .
