THERE OUR STORY
The associative history of the Italian ISF represents a memory and a testimony of some of the most important activities carried out by ANCSIF, AIISF, and still today by FEDAIISF, both at a peripheral and national level in 56 years of life in favor of dignity and the professionalism of all Pharmaceutical Representatives.
This is the story not only of those who have lived the moments reported here, and are living them firsthand, but also of those who are watching them from afar, or are just reading them.

1964
TO Florence, on 25 October and with a specific document, the executives responsible for the National College of Propagandists 
Scientifici, of the SNAPIM-CISL and of SNELPIF-UIL, "in the conviction of the need to bring together all the operators in the sector, so that there can be a single voice in defense of the scientific information activity of medicines" declare their common will tothe give life to a single professional association, alongside the trade union organizations that operate for the contractual protection, both regulatory and economic, of the operators in the sector.
Thus was born there‘ANCSIF – National Association of Pharmaceutical Industry Scientific Collaborators with the aim of achieving a "united front" of scientific collaborators, capable of pursuing concrete objectives for the benefit of all concerned.
TO Marina di Massa, province of Massa Carrara, the primary assembly of CNPS extension ratifies, on 6 December, the agreement reached with SNAPIM and SNELPIF.
1965
TO Bologna, on February 21, the Congress SNAPIM extension expresses opinion in favor of the agreement of 25 October 1964.
On February 27 is signed a Florencebefore the notary Tita Maurothe Articles of Incorporation of the Association. Among the signatories, the Colleagues Aiuti, Conti, Di Laura, Firmani, Molinari, Penso, Alberto and Renato Simoni, Antonelli and Persico. The Colleague is elected President Giuliano Conti, Vice Presidents and Colleagues Walter Lucretius And Elio Aid; Secretary Crisante Di Laura Fracture; Treasurer Guido Carlo Molinari.
On April 9th l‘Hon. De Maria (DC) presents in Parliament the first bill, on which the signatory organizations of the agreement of 25 October 1964 agree. It is the proposal n.2256 which provides, inter alia, for the establishment of a register of scientific collaborators: they oppose the De Maria proposal, the proposal Crooked (n.2798) and the proposal Patrini (#974) supported by some representatives FOFI.
In Naples, the ANCSIF officially participates in the II National Congress of General Practitioners.
On May 2, in Naples, the SNELPIF Congress ratified the agreement of October 25, 1964 and extends the possibility of enrollment to scientific collaborators without a degree.
The Parliamentary Antimonopoly Commission, addressing the problem of drugs, emphasizes the distortions already evident in scientific information at the time. With a specific letter addressed to the press, the President of the ANCSIF clarifies the thinking of the Association on the subject.
The Association MEPIF – Southern Association of Propaganda Experts of the Pharmaceutical Industry, "in order to carry out a united action in the national field of all the propaganda forces", decides to join the ANCSIF (September 5).
ANCSIF and the trade unions SNAPIM and SNELPIF commit themselves to each other, through signing of a special agreement, to operate for the broadest parallel strengthening of the respective bodies, in the interest of the operators in the sector. This convention has not been ratified by the CISL.
1966
It takes place at Rome from 19 to 20 March on . With a 14-point document, the Association expresses its position regarding the request for regulation of the scientific information service on medicines.
The Ministry of Health, with note n.100.1/2103 (Minister Mariotti) takes a position in favor of the regulation of scientific information and proposes a draft law proposal, as a meeting point, of the various proposals then present in Parliament (Agosta, Storti, Patrini and De Maria).
The President of theANCSIF, G. Conti, intervenes at L'Hon Zaccagnini, Chairman of the DC Parliamentary Group, to urge consideration of the drug advertising bills.
The Hygiene and Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies examines the bills present in Parliament concerning the regulation of scientific information, and appoints a Select Committee for the preparation of a unified law text.
The President of theANCSIF extension sent to the members of the Industry Commission of the Chamber, who had expressed themselves negatively on the proposal De Mariasome remarks on this.
1967
On January 8, a Bolus
However, the ANCSIF signs a new agreement with the trade unions (SNELPIF/UIL – SICS/CGIL -SINAPS/CISNAL) to better protect, in respect of reciprocal competences, the professional, deontological and trade union interests of operators in the sector.
The President of theANCSIF extension addressed to the members of the Select Committee appointed in November 1966 a particular letter on the problem in question.
With a speech by the National Secretary of theANCSIF extension, the Association takes part in Rome to the twelfth edition of the “Hospitals Medical Week”.
On 14 April theANCSIF extension promotes a Round Table at the foundation "Charles Grass" on the topic "Propaganda of the drug - Legal status of the Scientific Collaborator". They participate, for the FNOOM extension The prof. Rbones, for the Order of Doctors of Milan on prof. Parent, for Assofarma il dr. Of the Judge, for the Farmunion the dr. cholombo, for theANCSIF the dr. conti, for the Autonomous Federation of Non-Titular Pharmacists on dr. French people, for the Ministry of Health, the dr. Marchetti. Moderator the prof. Chirico.
From 23 to 25 April it takes place at Florence the II National Congress of‘ANCSIF extension under the presidency of Sen. Lessona. At the inaugural ceremony, held in Palazzo Vecchio, theMr Mariotti, Minister of Health, the'adv. Lagorio, representing the Mayor, the Prefect and the dr. Turtians, representing the FNOOM extension.
With a special note sent to all the Orders of Doctors of Italy, the ANCSIF communicates the establishment of the Association and the aims it sets itself.
The parliamentary Select Committee expresses itself in favor of a law text that safeguards the fundamental principles of the proposal De Maria.
“The Scientific Propagandist”, official organ of theANCSIF extension, publishes an article detected by “International Journal of Economic and Commercial Sciences” of 1966, which shows how a scientific information service was also established in the USSR through representatives of pharmaceutical companies.
The President of theANCSIF extension intervenes with a report to the IV National Congress of the General Practitioners Union which is celebrated at Naples.
Intense action ofANCSIF extension through "notes" and "clarifications" argued against the FOFI, of the parliamentarians of the Health and Justice Commissions of the Chamber of Deputies and of the'The Hon Berlinguer of the PCTHE, in support of the objectives expressed by the proposal no. 2256, the legal recognition of the profession of scientific collaborator and the consequent establishment of the professional register.
1968
On January 17th the Justice Commission of the Chamber expresses a favorable opinion on the principle of the establishment of the Register of scientific collaborators.
On 21 February, a few days after the closure of Parliament, the Health Commission of the Chamber discusses the unified text on scientific information, prepared by the Hon. Bemprand and Barba. Following the approval of an amendment proposed by some parliamentarians of the PCI, which would distort the text proposed by the rapporteurs, the Government requests the remission in the Chamber of the bills, which, due to the dissolution of the Chambers, therefore lapse. In reply to a letter addressed to him by the National Secretary of theANCSIF extension, L‘Hon Scalia, federal secretary of the CISL, after acknowledging the validity of theANCSIF extension on the associative level they agree (April 24) on the request for establishment of the Register and on the appropriateness of the degree requirement, without prejudice to existing factual situations.
On The III ANCSIF Congress is held in Milan on 29-30 June. Present at the inaugural ceremony theMr De Maria (A.D), L'the Honorable Alboni (PCI), the Dr. Colombo (Harmunion). A new Statute is approved.
The bills are presented to the House n.109 and n.272 for the establishment of the Register of scientific collaborators, signed by the Hon. De Maria, Lattanzio, Mariotti, Foschi Palossi and others, and the proposal n.372, signed byHonorable Patrini and others, which expresses the FOFI orientation against the establishment of a specific register.
At a meeting of the Committee of Understanding ANCSIF – OO.SS. it reiterates the broadest collaboration between the Association and trade unions (October 20).
In the Senate bills are presented no. 220 (similar to proposal n.372 of the Chamber) e no. 309 (identical to proposals n.109 and n.272 of the Chamber).
On 13 November, the discussion on proposals no. 109, 272 and 372 begins in the Health Commission of the Chamber. The Government declares itself in favor of the approach envisaged by the first two proposals. A Select Committee has been appointed for the elaboration of a unified text.
L'ANCSIF extension asks the Associations Assofarma and Farmunione a meeting to deal with problems inherent in the scientific information sector.
1969
The President of ANCSIF intervenes in Rome at a meeting called by the DC Health Office on scientific information on drugs.
The President of the ANCSIF disputes, in a letter to Espresso, the partisan and superficial arguments contained in the article “Two tablets of TNT a day”, published by the same weekly on 9 February.
It is presented to the Senate, on the initiative of the Senators Valsecchi Pasquale, Torelli and others, a new bill, the no. 548on the regulation of the profession of collaborator scientific.
On 18 March on the initiative of the Umbrian Section, L'Adv. Grohmann of Perugia, with a detailed note, expresses a favorable legal opinion on the possibility of simultaneous registration in a possible Register of Scientific Collaborators and in the Order of Pharmacists.
On 7 May, the Justice Commission of the Chamber expresses a favorable opinion on proposal no. 109.
A meeting between a delegation of the Farmunion and the Board ANCSIF extension for the defense of the profession. The Farmunione recognizes the need of the category of Scientific Representatives to pursue professional protection also through the establishment of a specific Register.
1970
The President of the ANCSIF, with a letter to the President of RAI-TV, expresses the protest of the category for the way in which the scientific representative was presented in the TV 7 service “An avalanche of medicines”.
The IV National Congress of the ANCSIF takes place in Genoa on 31 May.
The periodical ofANCSIF extension publish an open letter to the Senators of the Health Commission which, in subsequent meetings, will discuss i bills on scientific information.
In October, following the statements made to the RAI from the Minister of Health, as well as the proposals put forward by the Labor unions with regard to the pharmaceutical sector, the position taken by the FOFI in favor of pharmacist informants and the uncertainty that has arisen for the future of medical information, the ANCSIF declares the state of turmoil of the category.
In the following months numerous regional demonstrations are organized in the presence of the local political and health authorities and the initiative concludes with a national demonstration which takes place in Rome.
1971
To the Senate, at the Health Commission, is presented by the rapporteur Sen. AlbanesAnd a unified text on the recognition of the profession of scientific collaborator and on which theANCSIF extension agrees. The Ministry of Health changes its attitude for the first time and supports, in opposition to the text Albanian, the proposal n.220 inspired by FOFI. The National Council of the ANCSIF intervenes immediately against the members of the Commission and the Minister of Health.
On February 26, L'Provincial Association of Scientific Representatives of Modena (APISIF), with 75 votes in favor out of 75 present, joins the ANCSIF.
On April 22, 1971, an event is held in Rome in the presence of about 2,000 scientific collaborators e with the participation of Minister Mariotti, Sen. Albanese, Dr. Muscolo and Dr. Turziani.
In the previous months the regional demonstrations take place at Bari, Catania, Brescia, Alessandria, Pescara, Ancona, Catanzaro, Potenza, Venice, Foggia and Cosenza.
II Minister of Health, with a specific decree, establishes a study group for i scientific information problems of which they are part nine Colleagues enrolled in the ANCSIF. (The work of the study group will end in October 1972).
II CIPE, Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning, and the Minister Mariotti officially recognize the validity of scientific information at the initiative of the drug manufacturing industries.
On August 4 theANCSIF extension intervenes with its own report to “International Medical Days” Of Vibo Valentia.
On 16 December theANCSIF extension intervenes with a report at the XIII Congress of Italian doctors of the press.
1972
The periodical of the Association starts the publication of a cultural section for professional updating of subscribers ANCSIF extension, taking up what in this regard is the result of clarification by the Ministry of Health.
On March 1, the President of theANCSIF extension is a speaker at a round table, organized in Rome by GIRF, on “Research and scientific information”. Other speakers are there'Eng. Zeller, Prof. Cingolani, Dr. Passaretti, Dr. Aleotti and Dr. Delogu.
In March theParma Autonomous Association of Scientific Collaborators (AACSP) is a member of the ANCSIF.
In Naples the President of theANCSIF extension, together with the Dr Catani of the SUMI, atHon De Lorenzo, President of the FNOOMM (National Federation of Medical Orders) and al Dr. de Matteis of theAMC extension (Medici Condotti)i Association, intervenes in a round table on “Current Thoughts on the Reform”, held on March 17 as part of the IV National Conference of Young Doctors of Italy.
On June 1, it opens at Pescara the V National Congress of ANCSIF. This results, among other things, a new Statute it's a new Internal Regulations.
In the month of October, the study group wanted by the Ministry of Health for the problems of scientific information approves a document from which ministerial circular no. 157.
On 18 November the Minister of Health, Hon Gaspari, issues the Circular no. 157 with which they give themselves – for the first time –“Instructions on the technical-scientific information of the drug“. The President and Vice President of the ANCSIF collaborated in the drafting of this Circular, which constitutes the cornerstone of all subsequent legislation on scientific information, G. Conti and E. Aid.
1973
In June, the process of the Constitutional Court which declares the constitutional illegitimacy of Article 199, second paragraph, of the Presidential Decree June 30, 1965, no. 1124, in the part in which it excludes traveling salesmen and salesmen from compulsory accident insurance.
In December, just nine years after its establishment, the ANCSIF can count on 47 sections distributed throughout the national territory, 19 of which are inter-provincial for a total of 67 provincial capitals;

1974
Born in January “ANCSIF Bulletin”, the Association's new official press organ.
The Union Europeenne des Associations de Delegues Medicaux (UEADM) was established in Geneva on 4 February on the initiative of the National Associations of the Belgium, from the France and of Swiss. The Colleague is elected President Maurice Franck (Belgium).
During the year (October 12-13) it adheres to theUEADM me too 'ANCSIF extension.
On March 12 the Minister Gui reconstitutes the Commission for the control of scientific information, chaired by Prof. D. Poggiolini and of which the Colleagues are part, as scientific informants G. Conti and N. Guastella.
The Italian Society of Pharmacological Sciences is organizing a round table in Milan on 30 September on the theme: “Research and medical information”. Among others, the President of theANCSIF extension, G. Conti. Moderator, the Hon F. De Lorenzo.
The VI National Congress of the ANCSIF is held in Reggio Calabria from 1 to 4 November.
The discussion focuses mainly on the following points:
– identification of possible initiatives to curb the progressive downgrading by promoting a trend reversal;
– modification of the Articles of Association and of the Internal Regulations.
– examination of the situation in the pharmaceutical sector;
– examination of the various proposals regarding the regulation of scientific information;
– evaluation of the basic criteria capable of providing a socially useful information service;
On 18 September the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe establishes, for the first time, some basic rules on the subject of "Information relating to medicinal products and their advertising to persons authorized to prescribe or supply them", also on the basis of some observations and proposals formulated by the Union Europeenne des Associations de Delegues Medicaux (UEADM).
1975
The ANCSIF intervenes with its own press release regarding an article published by "The Weekly"in terms of drug consumption.
1976
ON 27-28 March during the meeting of the European Council of theUEADM the colleague is elected President G. Conti, former President of theANCSIF extension. The new Steering Committee of theUEADM will activate contacts with the BIT (Bureau International du Travail) and with the'WHO, also arranging every initiative to affirm and defend the ethics and deontology of whistleblowers.
1977
L'ANCSIF studies and elaborates the modifications to be made to some articles concerning the information on the drugs present in various bills for the establishment of the SSN.
From 10 to 12 June it is celebrated in Rome the VII National Congress of the ANCSIF which focuses its work on the professional training of the scientific informant as well as on the identification of concrete and valid criteria for regulating the information activity, taking into account the necessary interventions in the sectors of research, production and distribution of medicines.
On the occasion of the first meeting of the National Executive elected by the Congress, Colleague Peter DeRe of Udine assumes the position of President of the ANCSIF; Colleague Vice President Angelo de Rita from Florence.
In collaboration with the National Scientific Informers Coordination UILCID, November 26 theANCSIF extension organizes a national conference in Florence, at the Stensen Institute, on the subject “Scientific information on medicines: Healthcare reform and employment”.
1978
On the occasion of the UEADM European Council which takes place in Tunis on 17 March, the Colleague is elected President GJC Ten Holter (Holland).
On 5 August 1978 the Law was promulgated n.484 which regulates scientific information, the advertising of medicines and establishes the participation of the assisted in the expenditure for pharmaceutical assistance (GU n.238 of 8/26/1978) to which ANCSIF made a major contribution to his writing of the first theme.
On 23 December, the framework law was passed n.833 on the “Establishment of the National Health Service“. Article 31 overturns what used to be the prevailing position, which tends to entrust the drug information service exclusively to the NHS. This is thanks to the amendment byHon. Tiraboschi in the Commission, amendment requested by ANCSIF extension. The Art. 29 refers to a specific law the regulation of the drug information service and the activity of scientific representatives. Of note, however, is that - thanks to the associative interventions - for the first time a State law provides for our professional figure: THE DRUG SCIENTIFIC REPRESENTATIVE.
1979
L'ANCSIF extension publish a "white paper" on the professional training of the scientific informant by the Colleague G.Galluppi of Messina, member of the National Executive, which indicates, among other things, the initiatives undertaken in this regard at the national level (since 1972) following the interest of theANCSIF extensionas well as the location of the Ministry of Health and the various situations existing in some European countries.
From 16 to 18 November it takes place at Rome the VIII National Congress of the Association, which, starting from that date, will be called Italian Association of Pharmaceutical Representatives (AIISF). During the work, the following reports were made:
1- "Legislative standards and regulation of the drug information service in compliance with the provisions of Law 833";
2- "L‘information on medicines and the role of scientific rep: perspectives and objectives in the new European reality”;
3- "Professional training and permanent updating of the ISF".
On December 8, the National Executive elected by the Congress reconfirms, respectively in the offices of President and Vice President of theAIISF extension, the colleagues Peter DeRe and Angelo de Rita.
1980
On March 20 with Decree of the Minister of Health Hon Altissimo, rules are laid down on drug monitoring, involving, in the collection and transmission of data, also the Scientific informants.
Meets at Strasbourg the European Council ofUEADM (April 18-20), which approves the former “ethical rules for scientific representatives in Europe”.
He is elected President of theUEADM the colleague Eduard Gregoric (Yugoslavia); Italian Vice President Angelo de Rita. The adhering Associations undertake to support in their respective countries the professional training project for European scientific representatives voted by the Council.
L'AIISF extension requests an urgent meeting with the Minister of Labour, Hon Foschi, in order to examine both the serious problems that have arisen regarding the definition of the social security relationship of a large part of Scientific informants, using theENASARCO, and the problem relating to the integration of the rules concerning the possibility of joining the insurance periods referring to different social security institutions. The meeting is convened at the Ministry of Labor at 19.00 on 2.7.80.
The Association requests a meeting with the national managers of the FULC in order to pursue together, as far as possible, the following objectives:
– increasingly correct and complete information, extended to all healthcare professionals;
– an ever-increasing professional qualification of medical-scientific reps;
– the elimination of any advertising and promotional component;
– dignity at work;
– the defense of employment levels.
1981
On January 15th the FULC (United Federation of Chemical Workers) and the AIISF sign a joint press release in which both Organizations commit themselves "for an ever greater qualification of medical-scientific information and, with it, for the full valorisation of the relative employees, in coherence with more general action to improve production and working conditions in the entire sector”.
The Minister of Health, Hon. Aniasi, issues, on 23 June, the DM on the "Regulation of the activity of scientific information on drugs".
The intervention of the AIISF on the contents of the Decree was decisive, having followed the process from the early stages and finding the full acceptance of the Minister.
From 5 to 8 December is celebrated a Florence the IX National Congress of the Association, chaired by Dr. Bruno Luciano, Director of “Medical Courier”. Central theme of the Congress: "Our unitary commitment, an essential condition for information on drugs adhering to the Health Reform".
On this occasion, a round table is held in which a national manager of theAIISF extension and the Presidents of the autonomous Associations of Bergamo, Brindisi, Rome (FAIS), Lecce and Taranto. (Those from Puglia will flow into the AIISF between 1982 and 1983. The scientific informants of Bari, present at the Congress with their own provincial Coordinator, will also form their own section adhering to the AIISF in the following year). Important and crucial for the development ofAIISF extension, as time will show later, the substantial changes to the Statute and the Code of Ethics, which took place during the congress. Participating in the works, among others, the Sen. Forni, Vice President of the Hygiene and Health Commission of the Senate, as well as the three National Secretaries of FULC, Worthy (UILCID), Columbus (FLERICA-CISL) e Wind (FILCEA-CGIL). Particular emphasis is given toinvestigation-test turn from Section of Florence and Pistoia among a sample of the medical profession, a survey on the general theme of information on drugs.
Colleague is elected President of AIISF A. de Rita, former President of the Florence/Pistoia Section.
1982
On 23 November, the Minister of Health, Hon. Altissimo, issues a new Decree, which integrates and modifies the previous one. Implemented with Article 6 bis the associative intervention regarding the competence of the pharmaceutical industry to carry out information activities on its products through its scientific reps. The principle of the purpose of the free sample and its destination was also implemented in spirit and again thanks to the AIISF.
ALGORITHMI, periodical of the Association, was born to replace the ANCSIF Bulletin, the direction of which is entrusted to the Colleague Andrea Sestini from Florence.
In order to offer Colleagues favorable conditions for stipulating particular insurance contracts an agreement, of national value, is signed with INA Insurance. The initiative is advertised, with a multi-year contract, on ALGORITMI.
1983
The Association's law firm intervenes in the market research company ABACUS that with his "study" harms the rights and interests of Scientific Representatives not only as workers, but also as operators in the health sector.
The President of the AIISF, A. de Rita, meets in Florence with the representatives of theABACUS, who adhere to the membership requests, partially modifying the texts used for their investigations, as confirmed with their letter dated 22.9.1983.
ALGORITHMS publishes the thoughts of the Association on the factors that determine drug consumption.
On 2 October, on the occasion of the National Council, Angelo de Rita he was reconfirmed as the Presidency of the AIISF.
1984
Several interventions engage the Association at the Directorate General of the Pharmaceutical Service of the Ministry of Health then regarding the regulation of free samples of medicinal specialties in hospitals, as well as regarding the distribution of free samples of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The Ministry replies to AIISF providing the requested clarifications.
The Minister of Health, Hon Altissimo, issues, on 28 July, a new Decree which supplements the previous one on the subject of monitoring, once again confirming the involvement of Scientific informants.
1985
On February 1, the Minister of Health, Hon. Degan, establishes the Committee envisaged by article 6 of the Ministerial Decree of 06.23.81 and appoints to its members, among others, the Colleagues A. de Rita, D. Bruni and A. Roccatagliata.
On February 26, the Minister of Health, Hon. Degan , with its own Decree, amends and supplements the previous Decrees on scientific information on drugs, acknowledging some observations and proposals of the AIISF on the subject of informative material.
On proposal ofAIISF extension, Farmindustria organizes a press campaign among the medical profession, which makes use of the contribution of the AIISF in its planning. The initiative was launched in October 1985 in some newspaper and magazine mastheads normally sent to doctors.
On the occasion of the European Council in Paris (17-18 May) he was elected Colleague President of UEADM Fritz Probst (Austria).
The Association publishes the volume "Legislative review on the scientific information service on drugs" by the President of AIISF, Angelo de Rita, and by Dr. Stefano Loppini.
The Department of Social Security of the Region Tuscany issues the circular on 29 October n.140 having as object the application provisions on the subject of the regulation of scientific information on drugs. The circular, which is sent to the Chairmen of the Management Committees of UUSSLL of Tuscany, it is drawn up after an in-depth discussion with the national managers of the Association.
The X National Congress of the Association takes place in Rimini from 31 October to 2 November. A debate without equivocation or reticence confirms the vitality of the Association. Revision of the Statute, cadre prospects, commitment to the legal recognition of the profession, are the salient moments of the work.
On the occasion of the following National Council (3/4 November) Colleague is reconfirmed President of AIISF Angelo de Rita. On the basis of the rules dictated by the new Statute, Colleagues are elected Vice Presidents Dominic Bruni of Bari, Giuseppe Galluppi from Messina, Gianni Piccazzo from Savona and Salvatore Lodde from Treviso. The colleagues fernando Lentini of Taranto and O. D'Ercole of Pisa, the National Secretary and National Treasurer of the Association are respectively elected.

The Hon Roberto Barontini (PRI) presents the first bill for the organization of the profession of scientific informant of the drug with which the thought of the AIISF expressed on the occasion of the X National Congress is implemented. The bill is also signed by the Hon. Poggiolini, Martino And From Mommius, all from the PRI, as well as members of the Social Affairs Commission of the Chamber.

On the initiative of'The Honorable Garavaglia, and other deputies of the A.Dthe bill is presented n.3687 having as object: "Regulations concerning Scientific Representatives".
On the intervention of Farm industry and ofAIISF extension, the Ministry of Transport issues the circular on 31 July n.149 with which it is established that "also the transport of free samples of medicines, carried out with cars or with motor vehicles for mixed transport for people and things, with a capacity not exceeding 5 quintals, can be exempted from the road transport discipline as the vehicles in question are to be considered used for the transport of things, even in the case of cars, for the exclusive use of the owner".
The National Executive of the Association, acknowledging the ever greater degradation to which the profession of scientific informant has reached, as well as the ever-growing difficulties in meeting doctors caused by the excessive frequency of visits and by the increasingly commercial push imposed by the Companies pharmaceuticals, also taking into account the interference that such pressures cause in the organization of work, with implications of a commercial nature, resolves to report such situations to the President of Farmindustria, the Minister of Health, the President of FNOMM and the Trade Unions., telegraphically requesting a meeting from them. These meetings take place in Rome with the FULC and with Farmindustria and in Salerno with the Minister of Health at the end of October, while the one with FNOMM will take place in Florence on December 2nd. All parties share the concerns of the Association and undertake to promote any initiative aimed at removing the situations denounced by the same.

In the month of February, an interview with the Dr. C. Cavazza, President of Farmindustria, al Dr. De Angelis of the FIMMG and to the President of the AIISF, A. de Rit,. where the irreplaceable role of the Scientific Informant is highlighted.
On February 21, the Ministry of Transport expresses a positive opinion on the applicability of the provisions of circular no. 149 of July 31, 1986 also to the transport of brochures, works of scientific literature and small advertising gifts.
II Prof. Eolo Parodi, President of the FNOMCeO, following the interventions of the AIISF, issues, on 9 March, the circular n.22 with which he deals with the relationships of the medical profession with the Scientific Representatives, affirming the importance of legal recognition of their profession, stigmatizing the behavior of the pharmaceutical industry, in particular as regards the excessive number of visits made by each individual rep, the inappropriateness of simultaneous visits by two reps from the same company, the growing pressure on some health care groups.
LAIISF National Executive, acknowledging the automatic decay, with the early end of the 9th Legislature, of all the bills not yet approved in the competent parliamentary commissions, intervenes in various parliamentarians, in order to obtain, during the X Legislature, their adhesion to our draft regulation of the profession.
Promoted by Radical Committee for the rights of users and consumers takes place a Rome, on 25 September, a conference on the subject "Drug policy and pharmacovigilance"; the intervention of the AIISF was extremely incisive, represented by the National Vice President, Dominic Bruni.

Meets at Montesilvano (5-7 December) the National Council of AIISF, in which they participate, among others the Undersecretary of Health, Sen. E. Also present are the Presidents of the ISF Associations of Greece and Spain. On 26 October, the Union International des Associations de Delegues Medicaux (UIADM) was born in Athens. which will replace the UEADM.
1988

On June 18 everywhere d‘Italy converge in Rome at the Hotel Ergife more than 3,000 Scientific Representatives to participate in the “manifestation” wanted by the National Council of the Association (Montesilvano – December 1987). Full success of the initiative both for the participation of colleagues and for the adhesion of the exponents of the Government, of Parliament and of the medical profession, who have guaranteed their commitment to a law that finally does justice to the whistleblower.
In the month of July Farmindustria and FULC sign an interpretative understanding document "of the contractual rules governing the relationship of employees in the sector" examining "some problems relating to the report of scientific informants". Punctual intervention of the AIISF, who, making himself the interpreter of the majority of his colleagues, criticizes this understanding both for the method adopted and for the content.

THEon the occasion of International Council of Messina (October 29-30) the colleague Angelo de Rita (Italy) is elected President of the UIADM.
The first relations with the European Parliament begin this year.
The National Council ofAIISF, meeting in Rome on 26 and 27 November, reconfirm Angelo de Rita President of the Association and elects Colleagues to the National Executive Domenico Bruni, Giuseppe Galluppi, Alfredo Lambelet, Fernando Lentini, Salvatore Lodde and Gianni Piccazzo. In the subsequent meeting of the Executive, the office of National Treasurer is attributed to the Colleague Alfred Lambelet of Viareggio, while all the other elected members are reconfirmed in their previous positions.
1989
L'AIISF extension asks for and gets from Directorate General of the Pharmaceutical Service of the Ministry of Health details of the agreement Farmindustria-FNOMCeO on Phase IV clinical trials.
From 26 to 29 April it takes place at Bari, at the Fiera del Levante, the "THE° Biennial Medical Information”. At the demonstration AIISF is also participating for the first time with its own stand.
As announced in Montesilvano in December 1987 by‘Hon A. Ceci, the PCI elaborates a document that will form the basis for the bills concerning the health sector in general. In document i references to drug information denote a substantial convergence with the associative positions.
The Dr. Pagni, President of SIMMG extension and Director of "The Doctor of Italy" illustrates ad ALGORITHMS (year VIII n.3) its position on scientific information in general, on market research and on Phase IV in particular.
At the request ofAIISF extension and so that Scientific Representatives know its contents, Farmindustria authorizes the publication on ALGORITMI of its "Code of Conduct - Rules of conduct for members of Farmindustria", as well as the agreement with the FNOMCeO on clinical trials in Phase IV.
The Directorate General of the Pharmaceutical Service of the Ministry of Health informs the Farm industry and to FNOMCeO that any Phase IV study deemed by the company that holds the registration absolutely necessary for a better knowledge of the characteristics of the product, with particular reference to its safety of use, must be submitted to its prior authorization and this as the guarantees offered by the agreement stipulated in this matter between the FNOMCeO and Farmindustria do not appear sufficient to dispel the perplexities that the experimental plans designed by the companies conceal promotional intentions, in contrast with the provisions of the law in force and with fundamental principles of an ethical nature.
In his report to the Annual Meeting of Farm industry, The President Claudius Cavazza, also acknowledging the observations of the AIISF in this regard, he urges that in the sector of scientific information on medicines "one operates with the utmost transparency and with the highest degree of responsibility".
The bills on theregulation of the profession of Scientific Pharmaceutical Representative are placed on the agenda of the Social Affairs Commission of the Chamber. As rapporteur is appointed l'The Hon. D. Poggiolini, already signatory of the bill presented on 17.12.1985, byHonorable Barontini and by other parliamentarians of the PRI extension (IX Legislature).
The XI National Congress of the Association opens in Messina on 27 October on the topic “The role of the drug sales representative: towards Europe, with the consistency of 25 years of social commitment”. The President of Farmindustria also participates in the Congress, Dr Cavazza.

L'AIISF extension promotes a conference a Reggio Calabria on the theme of legal recognition of the profession of ISF, with the participation of Sen. Zito, President of the XII Hygiene and Health Commission of the Senate, which, by sharing its goals, ensures its interest and support.

L'AIISF extension intervenes again at the FNOMCeO to solicit every chance of new and more concrete collaboration aimed at the exercise of the profession respecting each other's dignity and professional needs.
Request it again FOFI to intervene with the owner pharmacists to ensure - in the context of relations with pharmaceutical companies - compliance with the provisions of the law in force on the subject of scientific information on drugs, as well as the provisions of the Consolidated Text of Health Laws.
Participates in the elaboration and drafting of the new Statute of the UIADM.
He claims at the Ministry of Health the eligibility of biology graduates to manage the scientific service of pharmaceutical companies, provided by the Legislative Decree 541/92.
The AIISF intervenes with the owners of pharmaceutical companies to invite them not to persist in the use of illicit promotional strategies. Express this concern to the SIMG (Italian Society of General Practitioners). L'AIISF extension intervenes in the Presidency of Farm industry to denounce the seriousness of the employment situation for the ISF, following the instrumental appeal and, in the opinion of the'AIISF, often illegitimate to the so-called social shock absorbers, reserving the right to verify its legitimacy in the competent offices.

Thursday 24 November theHon. Giulio Conti, Undersecretary for Health, confirms to the President and Vice-President AIISF (Angelo de Rita and Giuseppe Galluppi) to share the need for "Legal and regulatory recognition of the ISF profession", declaring his willingness to intervene at the XII Hygiene and Health Commission in the Senate so that the bills, already placed on the agenda, are discussed in the legislative seat.
On the occasion of the National Council held at Assisi on 3-4 December, a document is approved with which the Association undertakes to supervise and report to the competent bodies all the distorted uses of social safety nets implemented by pharmaceutical companies, to stimulate the participation of the ISFs in trade union activities within the RSU and RSA, also seeking comparison with the OO.SS. , also in order to allow a preferential return to work for Colleagues on the move.
It is also requested toAIISF extension to legally protect in the competent offices any attack on the personal and professional dignity of the ISF, pursuing at the same time the legal recognition and regulation of the profession.
The Association is still asked to promote new and in-depth meetings with the FNOMCeO, with the SIMG, with the FIMG extension and with all the other doctors' trade union organizations to establish an effective and real collaboration which is essential for effective and reciprocal communication. L'AIISF extension lastly, it undertakes to promote programs for the recovery and development of the image of the professional figure of the ISF, with the collaboration of the entire national and peripheral structure. On 16 December, speaking during the seminar on: “Pharmaceutical assistance: use and quality of the prescription", organized at Rome by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, the President of the'AIISF reaffirms the professional role of the ISFs vigorously contesting the claims of Dr. St. Cagliano (spoke on behalf of Federconsumatori) tending to stigmatize the role of the ISF in Italy and in the world.

In January, the National Executive promotes discussions with all the Regional Councils AIISF extension, in order to be able to better prepare the associative activity programs in compliance with the directives of the National Council of Assisi. As part of the initiatives to be promoted for the ISF image recovery in the public opinion, the n. 2/95 of ALGORITHMS post on last page a “Institutional cartel”, which, with the authorization of individual doctors, will be displayed in all clinics in Italy. The sign explains to patients that “the scientific representative is a professional who carries out a service of social interest aimed at the best use of medicines. Its activity is foreseen and regulated by the DL 541 of 30.12. ninety two ". The same edition of ALGORITHMS reproduces on the front page 5 postcards with pre-printed addresses of recipients (President of the Senate, Ministers of Labor and Health, Presidents of RAI and FININVEST) and on the back the related messages, all inspired by the directives of the National Council of Assisi. Readers of ALGORITHMS they are invited, by the columns of the newspaper, to send the aforementioned postcards immediately. In order to establish a collaborative relationship as well as an exchange of information with the medical profession, the Executive invites all Section Presidents to send ALGORTMI the list of doctors in the area, both at home and in hospitals, as a representative sample to be included in our journal archive.
From 4 to 6 April the President of Rita intervenes again at i members of the XII Hygiene and Health Commission of the Senate, requesting the approval of the bill on the recognition and organization of the ISF profession.
April 6th AIISF and FULC they emit a "Press release" joint with whom denounce the instrumental choices of many pharmaceutical companies which, while not resorting to the extremes, reduce their employees using social safety nets; or of others who, in parallel with the use of mobility and early retirement, hire ISF also resorting to agency contracts, despite the fact that Enasarco denies them the right to register with the Entity; or still of other companies that turn to specific service companies for the information activity, in open violation of the provisions of the law in force on the matter. With the aforementioned press release AIISF and FULC “they also denounce the attempt to debase the professional role of the ISF, which, even under occupational blackmail, are required to behave in violation of the regulations in force and tend to dehumanise relationships even between colleagues in the same company". AIISF and FULC therefore propose that "where an increase in employees is necessary, draw on the mobility lists; that any motivated transfers are agreed with the trade union organizations and the workers concerned; that recourse to social safety nets takes place only in the presence of a real and verified corporate crisis; they also ask, in these cases, for the activation of the solidarity contract and reductions in working hours to ensure employment for all”. The press release concludes with the reaffirmed mutual will of AIISF and FULC to intervene with any means useful to put an end to illicit and anti-social behaviour.
On 13 April, the Select Committee appointed by the presidency of the XII Hygiene and Health Commission of the Senate expresses a substantially positive opinion on the unified text of Legislative Decree no. 223, 713 and 822. Before the approval of the text by the Commission, the opinion of the Fifth Budget Commission is required. The Executive therefore intervenes with the President of said Commission.
On the same date, the Acting Deputy Chairman Galluppi participates in a meeting with the directors of the Order of doctors and the FIMMG of Messina.
Throughout the month of April, every week President of Rita intervenes at the XII Hygiene and Health Commission of the Senate to solicit the process of the law on the legal recognition and regulation of the ISF profession.

On May 9, the Colleagues Fagioli, Galluppi, Gottardi, Lambelet and Lentini participate in Rome at: “National drug convention, organized by the Forum for Biomedical Research and Censis, sponsored by CNEL. On this occasion it is illustrated al Undersecretary of Health, Prof. Mario Condorelli, the particular situation of the child Ghila Lubin and in this regard a memorandum of theAIISF extension. In the afternoon of the same day, always at Rome, the Colleagues of the Executive meet with the three National Secretaries of the FULC, Carlini, Raimondi and Testa, to ascertain the intentions of the FULC in terms of defending the employment of ISF extension and all the other workers in the sector, as well as to counter those actions promoted by pharmaceutical companies in clear violation of the laws in force regarding the use of social safety nets.
On 10 May, the Executive urged all the Sections to give the maximum and fastest possible dissemination to the case of Ghila Lubin, a girl from Milan, who is in very serious condition and needs a heart transplant.

Rossi addresses with two separate questions to the Minister of Health to denounce the failure to establish, by many pharmaceutical companies, the Scientific service foreseen by the DL 541/92 and to ask "whether he does not consider it his principal duty to intervene in collaboration with the Minister of Labour, as far as his competence is concerned, in the negotiations for the restructuring of external organizations for scientific information on drugs in order to protect, according to the spirit of the above provisions mentioned, the health of citizens".

On 10 January, the journalist appeared before the Court of Milan Scotuzzi, author of an article deemed by'AIISF defamatory of the ISF and published in n°7 of the periodical EXPANSION (Arnoldo Mondadori Publisher).

On January 31, a representation of the Association is received in an informal hearing by the Select Committee appointed by the XII Social Affairs Commission of the Chamber of Deputies for the examination of the legislative proposals concerning the reorganization of the profession of ISF extension. This hearing is preceded by meetings with some parliamentary members of the Commission, who confirmed their willingness to support the need for the approval of the proposed law n. 2992 and a meeting (solicited by them) with the top management of Farm industry, who ensured that they would NOT oppose the establishment of the Register of ISFs.

In February, the delivery to the Sections continues (begun in the National Council) of material to be disseminated in the respective areas for the realization of our “Image Project” which foresees leaflets with the profile of the ISF and polychrome signs proposed through the information channels on medicines for the doctor.

April 2nd A. de Rita send a letter to Department of Drug Evaluation and Pharmacovigilance of the Ministry of Health and, for information, al Minister Hon. Rosy Bindi, on the storage and transportation of medicines urgently requesting clear and precise indications on all the methods that must accompany the conservation (suitable places, temperature, humidity, etc.) and the transport in the car of the samples (refrigerated bags, maximum temperatures, etc.) so that they can be immediately sent to all Pharmaceutical Representatives.
On May 5, a group of colleagues led by Gianni Rinelli, President of the Campania Region, meets together with other volunteers to dig through the rubble, to help the wounded and recover the bodies of the Sarno massacre.
The Law Firm of the Association, in the person of Atty. Paul Neapolitan, assists the colleague Raffaele Capasso of Florence, and won on appeal the lawsuit brought against the company that had fired him on the basis of a telephone check of his activity with a doctor, obtaining the reinstatement in the sentence. Two important principles are therefore reaffirmed in the complex of the rules governing our legal system: information acquired by telephone has no value, shadowing is prohibited.
On 10 June the President of Rita send a letter to Ministry of Transport - General Directorate of Motor Vehicles, to report as against many Pharmaceutical Representatives have recently been fined for having transported free samples of medicinal specialties in the trunks of their cars (or owned by pharmaceutical companies or leased) without permission for the promiscuous transport of people and things. Since the new Highway Code has not introduced new criteria and rules on the transport of samples, compared to the previous legislation, de Rita asks the Management to let the Association know its position in this regard.
On 4 and 5 July, the Steering Committee of the UIADM meets in Rome to discuss the following topics:

TO Marsala, the province of Trapani, takes place on 1st Provincial Congress of AIISF on the topic: "Medical-scientific information: role and usefulness in the Trapani healthcare reality". Among the speakers the Dr. Carlo Gianformaggio President of the Medical Association of Trapani, Dr. Andrea Farina Head of Basic Medicine of the ASL No. 9 of Trapani, Dr. Paolo Sarulli General Medicine Doctor, Dr. Francesco Sieli Hospital Doctor, Dr. Antonio Mangiacavallo Undersecretary for Health. The latter, in his speech, invites doctors to respect the ISF extension because they are not merchants. President of Rita fails to reach the site of work in time due to a strike.

On October 23 at Messina the Vice President Giuseppe Galluppi opens the Conference on the theme: “Scientific information on drugs. Laws and interpretations”. Law professors, magistrates, and Farmindustria give life to a debate which was attended by a large audience. The interventions were of exaltation of the social role that the IScientific informant carries out in informing the doctor. References to laws, legislative decrees and ministerial circulars highlighted the work carried out by our Association which has played a very important role in the drafting of many laws.
October 29 organizes a Ravenna some Professional refresher courses the first of which has as its theme: "The Principles of Pharmacoeconomics". The other topics that will be covered concern the toxicology, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, side effects, evaluation parameters of clinical work and pharmacovigilance

The Subcommittee is represented by Marco Bobbio, Leontino Battistin, Luigi Bazzini, Milena Cornacchione, Aldo Lupo, Aldo Miselli and Bruno Orsini. From March 31st to April 2nd it takes place at Santa Maria degli Angeli, Assisi (PG) the National Council
In the headquarters of Farmindustria meet the Dr. Aldo Pagni, President of FNOMCeO, Dr. Mario Falconi, National Secretary of FIMMG, Dr. Claudio CricelIi, President of SIMG and Doctors Gian Pietro Leoni, Emilio Stefanelli, Giovanni Soro and Ivan Cavicchi for Farmindustria. The object of the meeting concerns the need to unify forces synergistically in order to make the legislation evolve (legislative decree 541/92) which governs the relations between the pharmaceutical industry and doctors, and which concerns thescientific information. The representatives of the medical organizations reiterated their requests for clarification regarding Farmindustria's Code of Conduct, receiving reassurances that under no circumstances is Farmindustria's intention to demean the figure of the general practitioner. In reverse it is a matter of creating new normative conditions for making training and information an opportunity also for the doctor's accreditation and for the development of scientific and professional progress in medicine as a whole. Farmindustria proposes the immediate establishment of a 'Working Group' to study the amendments to legislative decree no. 541/92. The various parties agree on the inadequacy of the legislation in force for which it is decided to request again the Minister of Health, Prof. Umberto Veronesi, to formalize the establishment of a common table. The parties also hope that in the immediate future the FNOMCeO can assume the coordination of the initiative while ensuring the widest possible participation. The meeting ends with the signing of a deontological pact which assumes the centrality of the citizen, the value of scientific information, the essential need to make the doctor the author of the most convenient and qualified therapeutic choices.
Pending the Minister's response, theAIISF extension evaluate with your law firm any possibility of intervening against these companies, an intervention that will have the greater chance of success the more numerous will be the willingness to support the initiative AIISF extension by colleagues and doctors.

The Conference is attended by Dr Carlo Manfredi, physician and clinical pharmacologist, who spoke on the theme: “Exploring the relationship between drug efficacy and tolerability in the population”. They also attended the Hon. Salvatore Giacalone, the Hon. Francesco Lucchese, Sen. Baldassare Lauria and Sen. Ludovico Corrao. More than 500 Doctors, Scientific informants and Pharmacists.
December algorithms publishes the question of Sen. Franco Carella to the Minister of Health regarding the law of 31 December 1996. Sen. Carrella asks to know what initiative the Minister intends to promote in order to stop the investigation activities carried out by the ABACAM company and other similar ones in the medical class, which tend to coerce the doctor's autonomy by directing him towards prescriptions that are not always ethically flawless, certainly disturbing the privacy of the IScientific drug rep and producing all sorts of pressure on him from the companies for which he works.
On 27 December the National Secretary F. Lentini participates in the Conference held at Tarentum on the topic: "Who is the Scientific Representative of the drug". The President of the Tarnato section will also participate Graziano Di Rito, the Counselor Gianfranco Lorea, the President of the Order of Doctors Dr. Cosimo Nume and the President of the Order of Framacists Dr. Egidio Bianchi.

December 13th of Rita meets in Rome, at the studio of theAttorney P. Neapolitan, the Chief Executive Officer of the AABACAM to find an out-of-court settlement of the ongoing dispute.
December 17th Angelo de Ritaand the national secretary Edoardo Mazzettoparticipate in the assembly of members of the Section Forlì and Rimini. They also participate in the meeting Umberto Baraldi, regional president of AIISF of Emilia Romagna, and Adriano Rolloni, president of the Bologna Section and numerous colleagues. The president of the Section Richard Bevilacqua underlined the fundamental stages of the growth of the Association and the complex and difficult path for the new regulation of pharmaceutical information activities through the establishment of the Register of Scientific Drug Representatives, which obtained from the Senate floor the urgent procedure envisaged by article 81 of the regulation. De Rita intervened also recalling that in the meantime no other bills on the matter have been presented and continued on the recent positions of some general practitioners adverse to contact with the ISF and on the role of the Association in relation to the State- Regions. Mazzetto spoke instead of the activities of the Association engaged on various fronts but also of her particular commitment, having inherited the onerous task of managing the national secretariat a few months ago. He then continued informing on dvarious problems deriving from the multiple and anomalous employment contracts. President de Rita, after answering some questions, also focused on the topic of pharmacovigilance on which he recently expressed his position at the Social Affairs Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.

The increase in average life expectancy and the demand for well-being have overcome many barriers in recent years, characterized, as is well known, by a significant reduction in infant mortality and the control of many infectious diseases, but also by an unceasing increase in chronic and disabling, which require the use of drugs for a long time.
This different percentage incidence of the various morbid conditions is determined by the significant growth in the average age of the population, today largely made up of over-60s, often and simultaneously affected by various pathologies, which also require the use of drugs.
The growing demand for well-being and health, the increasingly felt need to help our mind to live in a body that is as healthy as possible, both influenced by cultural and environmental stresses, lifestyles and living conditions, are now partially satisfied from industries belonging to the pharmaceutical sector, in part, from the so-called "alternative medicine", in part still from thermalism.
There is no doubt that the interpretation of health in the terms mentioned above involves an extensive use of the drug and the ever more frequent recourse to self-medication, the risks of which, in the absence of concrete and precise programs of health education, are many and all of considerable importance.
Over time, the drug has therefore taken on an increasingly important role for the medical profession, who has the responsibility of using an instrument that has become increasingly sophisticated on the basis of his own experience and knowledge correctly.
Therefore, it is necessary for the doctor to be constantly informed on the therapeutic innovations produced by the pharmaceutical industry, as well as to receive detailed information on the aspects
therapeutics of self-medication drugs and spa treatments in their specificity.
As far as medicinal specialties are concerned, according to a recent survey carried out by the AIISF among a sample of the medical profession, published in No. 111 of Algorithmi, scientific information is provided to doctors above all through the ISFs, whose activity is considered by most part
of respondents that meet their professional needs.
The role of the ISF in the knowledge and use of the drug is therefore important and delicate, so it must be performed with full professional dignity.
For this reason, the AIISF requires that the activity of scientific information on drugs constitute a new profession.
For this reason, the AIISF believes that the legal recognition of this profession is right and necessary, so that the ISF can be called to account for their work and thus offer the community the maximum guarantee of their ethics and professionalism.
For this reason, the AIISF requires the legal recognition of the profession of scientific drug representative, through the establishment of Provincial Colleges or Orders of the ISF, with functions relating to the maintenance of the professional register and the discipline of the members and with every attribution provided for by law .
For this reason, the AIISF is grateful to all those parliamentarians, belonging both to the majority and to the opposition, who have shared the expectations of the ISF in this Legislature, translating them into 11 bills
The legal recognition of the profession of ISF, together with compliance with the other regulations currently in force on scientific information on drugs, will allow this service and the activity of the ISF to be carried out more and more with transparency, correctness and completeness, in the interest of all :
1- of the NHS and the Regions, which will be able to evaluate the usefulness not only for the economic savings that this service can produce on pharmaceutical expenditure, but above all for the improvement of the quality of life that it will have contributed to ensuring;
2- doctors, who will be able to find in the scientific rep an increasingly credible collaborator for their therapeutic activity:
3- of pharmaceutical companies, who will be able to translate the enormous resources invested in research into information that is not mainly commercial but that creates culture, as some of them are already doing with appreciable results not only in terms of their image, but also in terms of product promotion:
4- of scientific representatives, who will have to fight to create culture, regardless of the laws, reaffirming their fundamental role in this cultural project, guaranteeing doctors and citizens on the correctness of their professional activity, reaffirmed both by the possession of some mandatory requisites, and by the control within the same category, exercised by the instituting College or Order, which in relation to the opposing economic power of the employers will contribute to guaranteeing respect for the personality and, therefore, for their freedom.
On April 18thand A. de Rita receives the request for a meeting from the President of Farmindustria Dr. G. Leoni to compare their respective positions on the one taken by the Select Committee.
July 3 is held at Milan, organized by Il Only 24 Hours, a seminar on the theme: "How to increase the profitability of the Pharmaceutical Company: the scientific information of the drug". The initiative intends to analyse, through significant testimonies of the sector, what opportunities and prospects for development presents the IScientific information on drugs to the pharmaceutical industry. The seminar is mainly aimed at Area Managers, Area Managers, Sales Managers, Marketing Managers, Sales Managers, Scientific Services Managers, Pharmacovigilance Services Managers, Medical Directors and Information Systems Managers. AIISF extension sponsors this initiative and offers its contribution of observations and proposals in the definition of the program, which also sees the following reports on topics not initially foreseen and with speakers proposed by us:
1. Scientific information on medicines for human use: current legislation (Angelo de Rita)
2. Employee activity in the Scientific Information service on Medicines for human use (Carlo Aloe)
3. The General Practitioner and the Pharmaceutical Representative: a dialogue to build (Carlo Manfredi).
In September the President of the XII Commission (Social Affairs) of the Chamber of Deputies convenes President de Rita to be heard on the topic of pharmacovigilance.
