Lars Rebien Sørensen, president and CEO of Novo Nordisk, has been named the best CEO in the world, in the 2015 ranking compiled by the prestigious American magazine Harvard Business Review.
The choice was motivated by the results obtained by Rebien Sørensen at the helm of the Danish pharmaceutical company in terms of both financial aspects and performance in the social, environmental and governance fields. In particular, according to the Harvard Business Review, the recognition is motivated both by the strategic decision taken by the company to focus on the treatment of diabetes, a disease experiencing dramatic growth in the world, and by the great attention that the company dedicates to social and environmental issues.
“I see this as recognition for all Novo Nordisk employees,” commented Sørensen. “It is testament to the fact that I lead a company with employees who are committed to defeating diabetes and other serious chronic conditions, and I'm especially pleased to see that success isn't just measured by our performance.financial results, but also considering that our company is able to achieve its objectives by respecting the environment and always working in a socially responsible and sustainable way».
