Rome. Doctors are left without prescription books

There is a shortage of prescriptions from family doctors in Prati, in the historic centre, but also in Casal Bertone and the Castelli Romani. And in other ASLs the rationed distribution of pink blocks has already begun. The alarm was launched by the Federation of general practitioners (Fimmg) of Rome. "On Friday some colleagues from the ASL Rome-B, Rome-H and Rome-E - asked us for help - recalls Alberto Chiaratti, provincial deputy secretary of Fimmg - because they didn't know how to respond to dozens, hundreds of sick people". In Casal Bertone (Asl Roma-B) even in recent days some white coats have been left without recipe books, Fimmg recounts, and serious problems have been experienced by general practitioners in Asl Roma-A (historic centre) and Roma-E (Prati ). Given that difficulties sharpen ingenuity, in the ASL Roma-D (from Fiumicino to Portuense-Monteverde) they have seen fit in recent days to reduce by 50% the number of pink booklets that were provided to white coats to prescribe visits, analyzes and exams diagnostics.

According to a recurring rumor, the problems may have been triggered by disruptions in the printing of the forms, which is carried out by the State Polygraphic Office. But difficulties could also have emerged due to the fact that distribution has also changed recently: the changes would have caused obstacles to the regular arrival of documents in the local health authorities and therefore consequently to those who have to fill them in to prescribe treatment for the sick.

Nor is the fact excluded among the contributing causes that, due to the usual liquidity problems in the coffers of some Local Health Authorities, some supply of modules may not have been paid. Of course, underline the family doctors union, the problem of prescription books that are in short supply is repeated cyclically and every time it causes nervousness and indignation in many citizens who are denied the right to health. "We are willing to do our part - observes Chiaratti - but if we are forced to go every day to get 5-10 prescription books at a time from the offices of the local health authority, this inevitably takes away precious time to follow up and assist our patients . And this is not fair: it is not possible that citizens always pay". «There is the risk that these inconveniences will drag on until June - the dose increases Pier Luigi Bartoletti, secretary of Fimmg Lazio - and from the Poligrafico it seems that they have tried to improve the production cycle. But this made our work worse: it doesn't seem like a sensible way to solve problems".
