"Healthcare, the manager doesn't last long"
(Il Sole 24 Ore: page 1 – 10 November 2008)
NHS managers lose their seats very quickly: on average their assignment lasts 3 years and 7 months. According to Cergas Bocconi's "Oasi 2008" report, from 1996 to today, 852 executives have remained in office for less than a year. But the instability continues to grow: from 2007 to 2008, the term of office fell to one month. The position of those called to manage local health authorities is more fragile compared to hospitals and greater instability in some realities such as Calabria compared to Bolzano where the leaders are sought abroad.

David Wield, of the Economic Social Research Council, explains: "Spending money on biotech companies is now seen as too great a risk. Drug discovery depends on long-term investments with a high risk of failure and with profits far in the future." time".

"Expenditures under scrutiny with the white coats alliance"
(Il Sole 24 Ore: page 11 – 10 November 2008)
Increasingly decisive for the future of the NHS will be the construction of networks of relationships and "intercompany relationships", to make doctors and staff the most precious allies, who work alongside the manager in a more equal system. This is what the two editors of the "Oasi 2008" report, the Observatory on the functionality of healthcare companies, Eugenio Anessi Pessina of the Catholic University and Elena Cantù of Cergas-Bocconi maintain.
