"We want to relaunch the prevention policy with great force, from the next Budget law: it is not just a petition of principle, but an address that marks the transition from health care to health promotion". Word of the Minister of Health Livia Turco, who spoke at the conference in Rome for the two years of activity of the Center for Disease Control. “We consider – underlines Turco – investments in prevention policies as a fundamental chapter, which was also greatly urged on me by Prime Minister Prodi. We aim – he explains – to launch a major health education program aimed at young people and to promote sporting activity together with Minister Melandri”. Another priority chapter is “secondary prevention, starting with female cancers: this is the other big project – continues Turco – on which we want to work. It is clear that resources are needed”, underlines the minister. However, adding that "the resources already allocated, in many cases not used, must be used well". Furthermore, it should be verified how "the Regions have concretely translated the guidelines contained in the National Prevention Plan".
